Municipal Elections
All Candidates:
-
A resident and registered voter of the Ward you are seeking for at least thirty days
-
Mayoral candidate must have been a Greenville resident for at least thirty days
-
Not convicted of any crime listed in Section 241 of the MS Constitution or any crime interpreted by the Attorney General’s office as applicable, unless having been pardoned or had rights of citizenship restored by Governor, or had suffrage restored by the Legislature

File a Statement of Economic Interest with the MS Ethics Commission within 15 days after becoming a candidate if non-incumbent. Incumbents file on or before May 1, 2015.
Party Candidates:

Pay a filing fee of $10.00 by check or money order to the City Clerk’s office.

Submit a Statement of Intent.
Independent Candidates:
Party nominees certified by an Executive Committee are subject to determinations by the Municipal Election Commission, that each such nominee meets the qualifications to hold the office he/she is seeking or will, subject to no contingencies, meet those qualifications on or before the date of the general election.

Submit a petition listing your name as candidate and the office you are seeking. Petition must have a minimum of 50 signatures of eligible registered voters from the Ward you are seeking to represent. Duplicate petition form as needed.

Deadline for petition is 5:00 p.m. to the City Clerk’s Office, Thursday, August 6, 2015.
